If you need the extra power for speakers I'd go with the SMSL (80WPC for the SMSL vs 38WPC on the Topping), otherwise the Topping would be a better option (better DAC/Headphone Amp, no fiddly mini connections, this is subjective - but I think the MX3 looks better too). The MX3 has a more powerful (albeit still quite weak) headphone output than the AD18; that said, if you want to drive Micca RB42s, you’re going to need a lot of power for your speakers and the MX3 isn’t going to cut the mustard.
